History comes to life at the theatre in Siracusa

Each May to July, the National Institute of Ancient Drama (INDA) Foundation puts on a series of classical Greek plays – known as the Ciclo di Spettacoli Classici or Cycle of Classical Plays –  in what is hailed by many as the most important classical theatre in Europe in Siracusa, Sicily.

Bringing history to life, celebrated actors and directors have been performing at this spectacular setting since the theatre was revived by local nobleman Count Gargallo over a century ago in 1913, some 2,400 years after its first incarnation. The theatre became an essential part of Sicily’s cultural heritage and is an absolute must-see for visitors to the island who have an interest in the arts.

As part of a culturally rich yacht charter in Sicily, an evening spent in this magical setting is an unforgettable experience which can be included in your summer cruising itinerary.
